No with a BA degree in maths + economics only (no Physics), you are generally not eligible for an Integrated PhD in Physics through JEST. Most institutes require a Physics background
Hello,
You can appear for the JEST exam , because JEST itself does not strictly restrict who can write the exam. However, admission is decided by individual institutes , not by JEST alone.
For Integrated PhD in Physics , most institutes clearly require:
B.Sc. in Physics , or
B.Sc. with Physics and Mathematics , or
B.E./B.Tech in relevant science or engineering fields .
A BA degree with Mathematics and Economics is not considered an appropriate background for Integrated PhD Physics in most institutes. Economics is not treated as a physics-related subject for eligibility.
So, you are not directly eligible for Integrated PhD in Physics through JEST with your current qualification.
Hope it helps !
