Write passed. I also had the same problem and I took my question to NTA "Register Query" option in the website. They told me to write passed in the form. The improvement exam details will be verified later. Here is a screenshot

Since you have already appeared for class 12 boards in 2019 so you will have to select already appeared for class 12 option. You are giving improvement exam just to improve your score.
