Yes you are right the number of seats are increased this year .But this increase is not at all drastic this year there is 11279 seats in iit and last year it was 10957 so there will be not much effect  on iit jam exams .However slight changes in the cutoffs can be observed but they were not much changed from the previous years cutoffs .So better to check previous years cutoffs for better understanding of the seat matrix or cutoff marks for various iit and NITs .
