Hi dear,

If you are planning to give civil services exam it's better to take humanities (Arts) since history , civics, political science and geography are important subjects asked in the exam. You can follow it up with graduation degree in economics, history, political science or geography etc.

However you can opt for any stream of your choice if you wish to. Graduates from all fields are allowed to appear for the exam.

I would advise you to go to the UPSC syllabus so that you get a brief idea of the subjects required for the exam. Then select the stream as per your liking .

Hello Yash. If you want to choose a stream in order to get into civil service, I would suggest you take arts stream. It has few subjects which you can co-relate during your preparation for civil services exam as compared to the science stream or the commerce stream. Work hard in arts stream and I hope you be a civil servant one day.

All the best.
