If you are from Army Background then you have passed 1 criteria to get admission in AIT because only Indian Army personnel's Ward can get admission in that college.

Its a very good college in every way like infrastructure,placement,campus,faculty etc.

The cut for AIT pune  is quit high as  the cutoffs are:-

1-CSE its 99.11%

2-IT its 96.1%

3-Mechanical its 73.77%

4-Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering its 90.91%

So, according to the cutoffs you can get admission in AIT pune under mechanical engineering department.
