Hi,

You should have passed JEE mains exam and should have secured at least 75% marks in you 12th boards to be eligible to sit for JEE advanced exam.

Yes in order to appear for jee advance you need to qualify jee mains. Then only you will be eligible for jee advance. Hope you understood.
