But it is totally depends on you. Many average students cracked JEE main and JEE advanced also. 

If you work hard and study well then you can definitely achieve your goal.

Coming to your question I would like to tell you that as you have mentioned in your question that you are in 12 class so next year you are going to give your jee mains and believe me as an average student you can score 100+ in the jee mains or even more , but the condition is their you need to be consistent  at your work and schedule ,

So here is would like to share some strategy with you which will help you to excel with flying colours in your exam ,

• You should be consistent at your work.
• Make your timetable according to you and stick to it.
• Atleast complete your two subjects from pcm which you like most  so that you can charge over them on the main exam 
• Be with full confidence and positive attitude.
• And at last just give your best .

Hope you are doing good. I myself am from the pcm subject, so I can surely say this that any average student if prepare well for board can score more than 120 marks easily in JEE mains. Most of the questions in paper are from your course books or some other related questions. You just need to figure out that what are the questions you are best at and attempt those questions first. That's all you gotta do. Believe me, don't waste your time in the questions you aren't sure about. You should take a lot of tests, not every day but still twice or thrice a month. It will be very helpful. If you have any other questions then do ask.

as for your doubt you should first know that it doesn't matter that you are average student or brilliant student in class 12th for having good marks in JEE mains you will have to move with grit and will have to study the entire syllabus of the JEE mains. if you want to score 100 + marks in JEE mains then you will have to focus on some important topics which have high chances to be asked in the JEE mains examination, don't go with hard topics which consume lot of time instead of this  go with those topics which are easy and have high weightage.
