To become an IPS officer, choose any stream after Class 10; Arts (Humanities) with subjects like Political Science or History can help with UPSC preparation.

There is no specific group after 10th to become a IPS. You can choose stream of your choice which you find interesting and more enjoyable. IPS officers come from diverse backgrounds, it doesn't depends on stream you choose.

You can choose science stream if you are interested in subjects  like physics, chemistry ,maths and biology . If you find them align them with your interest ,you can choose this .

Yoc can choose commerce  that covers subjects like accountancy, business studies , economics etc.

You can also choose arts that offers a wide range of subjects like history, political science, sociology etc.

For IPS officers, you don't need particular stream . Apart from you this, you should develop critical thinking ,good communication , leadership abilities  that would be more valuable to become IPS.

To become an IPS officer, you should choose the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in your Class 12. This will make you eligible for competitive exams like the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE), which is the gateway to becoming an IPS officer.

After completing your Class 12, you can prepare for the UPSC CSE. The exam consists of three stages:

  1. Preliminary Exam: This is a screening test that includes General Studies and Optional Subjects.
  2. Main Exam: This is a longer and more comprehensive exam that includes General Studies, Optional Subjects, and a Language paper.
  3. Interview: If you qualify in the preliminary and main exams, you will be called for an interview.

If you qualify in all three stages, you will be ranked based on your combined score and allocated a service, which could include the Indian Police Service (IPS).

Remember, becoming an IPS officer is a challenging and competitive process. You will need to work hard and dedicate yourself to your studies and preparation.

Hello,

The IPS is the Indian Police Service. So, after class 10, it is very important to be focused on long-term objectives. You may opt for any group after class 10 because there is a Science group, Commerce group, or even the Arts group. But most of the students select the Humanities (Arts) group because Political Science, History, and Sociology are subjects included in that group which help to prepare for UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE), which is required to become an IPS officer.

Although any stream is allowed, it is suggested that the students of IPS have sound reading habits and increase general knowledge of students and keep their selves updated about current affairs. In addition to academics, one should make efforts on physical fitness, as IPS training includes hard physical activities. At last, consistency, dedication, and passion are going to favor the cause of passing IPS examination in becoming an IPS officer.
