This is really good to know that you are clear about 'what do you want to be in future'? so there are two waysto become a scientist, first one is get admission in IISc and IISER as they offer courses in pure sciences and other one is you can go through Engineering route and for that you will have to give Jee main (B.Tech). So basically, it depends which scientist you want to be as the requirement varies accordingly.
