Hello Prachi
You can go in nit from both the exams.
Jee mains has two exam one is for admission in nits ; IIITs ; gftis in BTech course.
And jee mains paper 2 is for admission in nits ; other good colleges in barch and b. Planning  course.
And for admission in IITs you need to qualify exam one ( i.e for BTech jee mains paper 1 ) and then you have to give jee advanced .
so give that exam in which course you wants to go.
But remember one thing the registration portal is same for both .
Good luck

Hello Prachi,
If you want admission in even NIT's or DTU, then you have to give both JEE that's I and II.  Because admission is done on the basis of both marks.
If you cleared JEE mains then my advice for you is please sit for advance. It is good for you.
Good luck
