Hi Chandan,

First of all, I would like to appreciate your willingness to join the Indian Army. There are two main types of commission that employ defence personnel - Permanent Commission (PC) and Short Service Commission (SSC).

Permanent Commission is where you serve the army till you retire, till the age of 60. You can attempt to enter this either after high school graduation or after completing undergraduate/engineering degree.

In Short Services Commission (SSC), you serve the army for a period of 10 years, possibly extendable by 4 years after certain medical tests.

There are several ways through which you can join the army, either for the technical arm or the non-technical arm, i.e. the arm which serves the nation in active fighting service.

Please let me know whether you are willing to join the technical or non-technical division, so that I can give you further explanation.
