KVPY is a fellowship programme in Basic Sciences, which is conducted to analyse and select talented candidates who have research ability, exceptional academic qualification to shortlist them for studies in basic sciences so that they can pursue scientific researches and development of the country. Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India has started the KVPY fellowship programme in 1999. The DST completely funds KVPY 2017 by providing the selected students with monthly stipend and Annual Contingency Grants
