Software Engineer is a job profile in IT companies. Though the job description remains the same, the role and  designation might change. In few companies, they are also called Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, etc. To start off, you need to have Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry ( or any vocational subject in your 12th. Now there are quote a few entrance exams for admission to B.Tech courses. But JEE Mains is conducted at National level. Once you appear for any of the exams and qualify in JEE Mains and get a seat, there are 2 ways about getting into core software. You pick up a CSE branch and study to become a software IT Professional. And the other is take up any course like Mechanical Engineering, etc and learn a software course and then start applying for jobs. As mentioned, the job designation might be different in different companies.
