FSO (Food Safety Officer)
Job description
- Monitor food businesses at the state/district level - Conduct inspections - Collect food samples - Ensure compliance with FSSAI regulations
Respective State Public Service Commissions (e.g., TSPSC, RPSC, OPSC) conducted the Exam for FSO.
Pay level: Level 6 / 7 (varies by state) approx. 35,000-60,000/month.
CFSO (Central Food Safety Officer):
- Perform similar duties at a national/central level - Coordinate with state FSOs - Handle interstate food safety matters - Report to FSSAI directly
FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) — central recruitment conducts the exam for CFSO.
Pay level: Level 7 (as per 7th CPC) approx. 44,900–1,42,400/month + allowances
Eligibility criteria for both of the post bachelor's degree in food technology / Dairy / Agriculture / Biochemistry / Microbiology / Veterinary Sciences / Medicine or equivalent (as per FSSAI rules). Age limits Usually 18 to 30 years (relaxation for reserved categories). Nationality Indian citizen.
