Firstly as you are preparing for SSC then obviously you have targeted SSC CGL and other exams. Now the basic eligibility for this exam is a graduation in any subject from any recognized university/board.

Thus it doesn't matter what field you choose, no field will give you extra advantage rather than your preparation. So it is always wise to choose the subject you like and enthusiast for. This will reduce your boredom while studying your subject and you will be able to focus more on SSC studies without any stress.

Also its highly recommended that you should go for General course and not for Honors course as Honors courses demands more time on the subject.

Hello,

The eligibility criteria for appearing in SSC CGL is simply passed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university, however there is exception for three posts as mentioned below-

  • Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer : essential qualification is bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university, desirable qualification is ca/cma/cs/mcom/mba(finance),masters in business economics and masters in business studies
  • Junior Statistical Officer : Bachelor's degree in any discipline with 60% marks in maths at 10+2 level or graduation in any subject with statistics as a subject in all the three years of graduation.
  • Statistical Investigator Grade II ; Bachelor's degree in any discipline with statistics as a subject in all the three years of graduation.

Now, the question comes if you aim to apply for any  of the three posts aforementioned then accordingly you have to choose your field of graduation, for the rest of the posts in SSC CGL there is no such restriction of having any specific stream or subject combinations for that matter.

Hey Mehul!

The eligibility of this exam is you must be graduated (doesn't matter what the course is) with a recognised university.

You can go for BA hons. ,if you think you can devote full time to SSC preparation.

The main thing is always choose something where your interest lies.

If you think you can give time to preparation even after pursuing BSc then it is also a very good option.

BA and BSc are totally different from each other. One is arts and other is science.

People usually choose a general course ( when they are preparing for any government exam) instead of hons. because hons. is a specialisation in a certain subject and it requires more time.

So , choose something where your interest lies.
