See if you want to do MTech abroad then its better to go for the GRE examination. GATE is essentially for doing the MTech program from the IIT's, NIT's, CFTI's and other private and State Government Engineering colleges. So if you wish to go abroad then you have to give the specific examinations. GATE will not be very much effective to provide you admission to any institute abroad for the course of MTech.
