Hey!

It depends on the College or University norms. Many colleges allow students to give the next semester exam but the students have to in future give the retake or give re-exam in the subject which were failed by the student in previous semester. Students are required to clear the exams of failed subjects in upcoming semesters. University of Delhi(DU) allows students to give the next semester exam if one has failed in the previous semester but eventually the students have to give the failed subject exams in the next to next semester. So, it depends wholly on the norms and method of the Institution.
