Hello,

If you want to become a software engineer then you must prepare for some of the most reputed Engineering entrance examination among which one of the most reputed one is JEE. if you want to prepare for JEE then there is not much importance of 12th percentage you just need to have a minimum of 75% if you belong to General or OBC category and the merit of JEE is decided by how much you have scored in the JEE entrance examination. So  don't get disheartened just start preparing for JEE.

Best of luck.
