First of all if you get 5000- 6000 rank than you will get admission in highly reputated and highly rank college.
And you can choose your specific branch.but it is not that if you get admission in the top of the colleges than your future and your job will be secure.
It just give you a platform to perform and you will get more and better opportunities when we compare to other students.
There is a lot more to do for the secure and a respectful and for a prosperous life style.
Your future will depend upon the coming 4 year during BTech ( graduation) that what you will do in that particular 4 years.
There are number of students who let the opportunity go and they just make excuses.
Your interest and development your skills that will grow during graduation will matter that how far in life you can go and achieve success.
You have heard many times that package of a student is high who has less marks in exam than the package of student who has high marks ( what's matter it's your skills and your body language and all other things).

• And one thing most of the people don't  have any aim or goal in life they just endlessly do anything without any results and motive.

So keep your goal set and put your efforts towards it ( like many students choose computer science because they have heard that it is highly paid branch but students who don't have any interest in coding ; it is waste of time and energy for him.)
So I wanted to tell that branch will choose ; choose it wisely after knowing your passion ; skills and your interest and that thing which you can do without frustrating and without loosing temper.
Like if you are interested in coding choose cs
If you are interested in circuit and other electrical equipment choose electrical
If you are interested in machine and turbine and materials choose mechanical
If you are interested in construction and building & construction materials choose civil
If you are interested in electronics gadgets and signals choose electronic and communication
If you are interested in hardware choose information technology.
Etc.
And don't follow other people what other are doing that doesn't matter only focus on ourself and analysis ourself from yesterday that  wether I learnt any thing new today and is there any change in me from yesterday .
And talk of colleges it provides you the better faculty ; better and competitive environment ; new friends and a new life ; and a number of opportunities if you get admitted in top colleges..
But it will be in your hand that you take advantage of it or waste it in doing some nonsense or some useless work. In these college placement are better because every company ( which have high reputation and in demanding) wants that the top and Creamy layer of the students of any country work in their company and as they know that they can find them only in top colleges of that country ( because if you have score good than you have something that they want and you are the one of that sharp minds ) .
Also fund is also available to do other various activities ( provided by government) and for sports .
You can go in sports and play for the college and for this you will get every facilities and other things.
And you will get to know about the different regions of India because it is all India exam and students from all over India came there which will give you a chance to explore yourself and to know about the different kinds of peoples and which help you to develop your speaking ; people ; and communication skills.
But you have to choose friends and your mates very wisely because some students are not good and they can also distract you and put you in wrong direction.
So it's all depends upon you and your coming years.
