That's an interesting question with the modernisation and urbanisation the menace of pollution has increased a lot in past 2 decades so in order to counter this menace a new engineering trade has emerged in past decade
It is amalgamation of science and engineering to reduce pollution
Environmental engineers are specialists in basic sciences, ecology, economics and social sciences
Energy and environmental engineers have even bagged packages of 25 lakh per annum
and my acquaintance have even rs 12 lakh package, average packages are about 4 lakhs
So there is scope in this stream but you have to be passionate for the stream
