It varies from company to company that what criteria they have set to provide jobs.

Generally, most of the companies have criteria of above 6.5 CGPA in your B.Tech. If you have 2-3 Backlogs in your previous semesters than it is allowed, if you have solved all of those until your 8th semester.

In your case, you have one backlog. So, don't worry go for placements, show your great technical skills followed by decent communication abilities. You will get the job.
