Mostly against the class 12 marks column , there is an option of 'passing this year' or 'appearing this year' . So , you can choose any of these two options.

If you are going to register for AIIMS entrance exam, then you have to select the option "appearing for class 12/equivlent from a recognized board" to appear for the exam.
