With 551 marks in NEET 2024 in your first attempt and coming under the general category in Maharashtra you do have a fair chance of getting a government seat especially for BDS and maybe even for MBBS in some of the newer or less in demand colleges

For MBBS the cut off for general category in Maharashtra government colleges is usually above 560 to 580 in top colleges but every year it slightly changes depending on the number of students and the difficulty of the paper. So you might have a chance for MBBS in government colleges in districts that are not in high demand

For BDS your chances are stronger. You can definitely expect to get a government dental college with this score in Maharashtra under the state quota. Colleges like Government Dental College in Mumbai or Nagpur may have slightly higher cut offs but other government dental colleges should be within reach

Make sure to register for the state counselling process through CET Cell Maharashtra and list your preferred colleges properly. Keep an eye on the opening and closing ranks once the first round results are out so you can make better choices in later rounds too

So overall with 551 marks you have a decent shot at BDS in government and possibly MBBS in some colleges under the state quota
