Hello, hope you are doing well!

Advocate Prashant Bhushan was punished to pay a Rs.1 fine within September 15 or else he will be jailed and debarred from practicing for a complete 3years time period. He was asked for an apology but he repeatedly denied to apologize.

On 14th August he was punished as he was found guilty for posting two of his disrespectful tweets which eventually criticized the functioning of the Indian judiciary in an unfair manner. This was a case of criminal contempt.

On 24th August, he wrote to the Supreme court that it was the final hope for him to be able to protect Freedom of Speech.

Hello,

The Supreme Court on Monday, 31st August, asked Lawyer activist Prashant Bhushan to pay a fine of Rs. 1 for posting tweets against the Chief Justice of India SA Bobde and the Supreme Court on twitter. Supreme court imposed this fine by saying that "Freedom of Speech cannot be curtailed".

Hope this helps!
