You are thinking way much ahead. What you have done in last year's doesn't matter if you give effort in present time. You honestly want to crack government exam then you should prepare for it rather than thinking what you done or wasted.

There are many candidates who are Average or below but they are determined to crack the exam for which they give immense effort. Being honest to self and practice will be the only way to crack a tough job.
