No, being in the top batch of coaching institute is not necessary to crack JEE. the Important thing is to get good Score in JEE you just have to practice properly and also have to give your 100% in every subject.

These things have mixed reviews. Some may support it some may not. I have seen may students getting 250+ in jEE mains being in A3 or A4 batch.

It is just the Psychological tricks brain plays with you. Sometimes in A1 batch you can face too much competition which can result your improvement too.
