Yes, this is a good choice if you will choose history as a  optional subject in UPSC.

In UPSC one needs to select an optional paper, so you can choose history in that and thus honours in history course help you in building a great knowledge of this subject that will definitely help you in UPSC.

hope you are doing well and safe. With reference to your query,  I would glad inform you that BA history is also a decent branch and will be sufficient to crack UPSC exam . In my opinion , if you are going to persue BA then in which stream you are persuing doesnt matters a lot , you have to focus on self preparition and work hard with full conistency  . Try to get updated with general awareness,because maximum questions are asked from latest trends only . To increase your problem solving I will advise you to solve puzzles
