mechanical and civil both are mother subject of engineering but now a day mechanical placement is better than civil.

Firstly, mechanical means not only machines, it is the culmination of designing, working, materials used and Principle. And In civil, you need to design some bridges/roads/buildings, you need to care care if amount of mixture of everything to add with cement, height, width etc.., mechanical and civil, both are good now. Follow, you're interest and atlast you'll be the successor.
