Hello Sudhant,

It is not mandatory for the students of Dual Degree BTech+MTech course to appear for GATE exam unless your Institute or University made it so.

So please clarify it from your Institue.

It can't be said that GATE is compulsry but i would like to tell you ,most of the students who wants to go for M.tech they need gate score to apply in any college.There are PSU's and almost every Psu want candidate's gate score .I am not saying every psu but most of the psu's.There are psu's which conduct their own exam and accordingly they select candidate like BARC,DRDO,ISRO .At the same time they can ask you for your gate score.

So the thing is ,it is not written that gate is compulsory but if you are not going to give this exam ,you are going to face difficulties ahead .If you would opt for mtech then you would need gate score which you will not have if you leave this examination.Not only in M.tech ,if you are wishing to go for P.hd or M.s you will be again blocked.So the best thing would be take the gate exam and open all of your paths.You won't have regret that this college is not accepting me and this company rejected my application because of the missing gate score.
