Sure, you can do that. However, do make sure you are not burdened with CAT and the course you're opting simultaneously.

Preparing a course along with CAT will be appreciated when you'll face the interview round/Personal Interview round for b-school admission. You can show your enthusiasm and how serious you were for the subject at the time of preparation.

It will also serve as a good use of gap year or any. You can highlight how you utilised your time in the best manner possible by adding value to your knowledge. Building a skill set is highly appreciated.
