All depends on your hard working and college.

If you are from IITs and NITs then you will sure get a job.

And if you are from private or any state goverment college then it depends on your college and it may be risky.

There are lots of company for Mechanical engineers,  and Mechanical engineers can also get a job in IT sector by learing some programming language.

Companies like TATA motor, HCPL, BHEL, L&T, Godrej group, NHPC these are top companies in India for Mechanical engineers.

There are also lots of government job for Mechanical engineers by qualifying gate after your graduation.

Some government job like PSUs ( BPCL) provide job in IITs and NITs campus.

But in day to day life gate exam is going to compulsory for job.
