no its not mandatory to give  jee main 1 exam to appear in jee main 2 exam ,both exams are for different purpose ,first one is for those who want to take in B.E or Btech whereas paper 2 is for architecture students who wish to pursue B.arch from IIT

Hello student no its not necessary Jee main paper 1 is for BE and B.tech programme and Jee main paper 2 is for B.Arch and B.plan programme you can appear in any one paper both are not linked with each other.
If you want to appear in Jee advance then its compulsory to qualify Jee main examination.
JEE eligibility - candidates must passed or appearing class 12 with physics chemistry and mathematics with minimum 75 percent marks aggregate from a recognized board.
