hi anant

i would like to answer it from my point of view.

taking a year break for learning skills is a great idea. but it depends after which educational level. if you are going to take a break after you ug and between ug and pg, then it is great option. but if you will take after class12, then it is wrong decision i would say. because, you will need all of your 12 year educations knowledge to finish your ug. if at all you take a break after 12th, you might mess up with learning school subjects which might affect your college learning.

this is just personal opinion.

you will have to decide according to your interests

i hope it helps
