1.) Petroleum Engineering is the best choice for people who have a strong interest and proficiency in physics, engineering design, and geological sciences.

2.)If you have a well known university that you could study in, that would be the ideal case. Oil and gas companies have tie ups with universities and it is best if you could take advantages of the academia-industry relationship. It is important that you do your research well on this area.

3.)Also check if your country is part of the OPEC, namely (Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Iran,Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia,United Arab Emirates and Venezuela). These increases the availability of opportunities for you.

You could probe your current situation on those three areas, wether the oil prices sky-rocket or crash, I truly believe that these three should be on your head on choosing whatever career you would want to take.
