Is Robotics a good course after 12th for B-Tech.

Yes it's a very good branch and a part of mechanical engineering.

But robotics is very compressed branch and gives you very fewer knowledge as compared to other branches of Btech course

And this creates less opportunity in the field of robotics engineering when you choose it in btech .

So better you go for mechanical in btech and choose as one of the specification as robotics in your mtech for better scope and opportunity

This career not only fix for robot or their functions but now days robotics Engineering is using in other domains like , production, medical treatment and equipment , Automobiles workshops , defense equipment and research . This field is extremely challenging and full of opportunities .But according to me you should plan for B.tech mechanical in B.tech level then in M.tech level you may choose this branch for diversify your knowledge and skills.
