Yes sodium is flammable in water. It forms flamable hydrogen alongwith sodium hydroxide as soon as it comes in contact with water. Sodium is one of the alkali metals, a group of famously reactive elements. ... The reaction generates heat, which melts the sodium , and because hydrogen gas is flammable , it ignites.
