To answer your query I would like to say that yes,the GK portion in CMAT has a significant weightage and will be an important factor in determining your overall percentile. But there are somethings that you should know about the GK portion of CMAT:

• CMAT conducting authority gives equal weightage to this section whereas  XAT has relatively less significance and is considered only for the admission in XLRI.
• These are easy to solve and does not require much thinking time. Either you know or you don’t. It improves your accuracy parameters also. The answers will be distinct and there will be no room for confusion.

Now the GK portion will be divided into static GK and current GK. The mix between the questions belonging to one of these sections will depend on year after year.  I am giving you the static vs current GK break up for 2 years:

So in total there will be 25 questions and this total remains constant throughout every year. The marking pattern is +4 for every correct answer and -1 for every wrong answer.

Yes Puja, GK portion of CMAT is considered in the final result of CMAT, to get calls from the B Schools. There are 25 questions from general awareness in CMAT, each carrying 4 marks for a correct answer and -1 for a negative answer.
