Having a printer is very beneficial in multiple ways. In terms of completing you project can be helpful. But more than that , as you know all the standard books are available in pdf formats and if you need some pages of the book , you can take a print of it by your own at a much cheaper cost than the printing stores.

Also nowadays ,printers are available with facilities like scanning , photocopy etc , so this facilities will benefit you in a multiple number of ways.

Its my opinion to have a printer dont only help for your project but also some other useful purposes.
