Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) is a course that one can pursue after completing Class 12 with science subjects. BAMS is based on the traditional art of healing in India; popularly known as Ayurveda. Ayurveda is the a branch of medical care which is based upon the concepts of natural healing processes of the human body which is further enhanced by therapy of Ayurveda. BAMS course is fast emerging as a supplement to modern medicine which provides a profound knowledge of ‘Ashtanga Ayurveda’ along with scientific advances in modern medicine along with extensive practical training.
At graduate level, BAMS is a course which is conducted in a duration of 5 and a half years duration on completion of which the student is awarded with the degree of Ayurvedacharya. The course is carried out in 4 and a half years after which the student is required to take up a compulsory internship of one year to earn the degree. The undergraduate course is divided into 3 separate sections of professional course carried out in 1 year each.
