Hello Aspirant,
There is percentile in JEE mains.
The Key difference between percentage and percentile is:
The percentage is a Mathematical quantity which is written out of a total of 100. The symbol used to represent the percentage is “%”. The percentage can be written in the form of fractions or decimals. Percentage is a individual result that doesn't effect other.
A percentile is defined as the percentage of values found under the specific values. Percentiles are mostly used in the ranking system. It is based on dividing up the normal distribution.
I'm giving you a example to understand better:
B.Tech/B.Arch Admissions OPEN
If you got 450 marks out of 500 then your percentage will be 450/500*100 i.e. 90%.
Now let's consider that student with 450 marks is topper then he gets 100 percentile and now for other percentile, it will be considered as base line. If any student get 390 marks, then his percentile will be 390/450*100 i.e. 86.6 percentile.
(javascript%3A;) I hope you can understand!!
