Hi,

I hope you are doing good. The number of seats shown by the college/university are actually the capacity of admissions it can take for particular branch.

The number seats depends on many factors like:

  • Type of the college. Government colleges/ Private colleges providing government degree have limited seats (might be up to 120 per branch) while fully private institute might have more (but they still needs to follow norms of there syllabus like AICTE).
  • Certain seats are reserved for Gen EWS/OBC/SC/ST/PWD.
  • Some of these seats are available directly to General candidate if they remain empty and candidate do not satisfy the criteria. (It is not practiced In certain institutes)

As you haven't mentioned clearly, what college you are targeting with what entrance exam, it is quit difficult to answer your query.

However, you can always know the number of seats of your institute by visiting there official website.
