It was in 2001, that the university was conferred with ''DEEMED TO BE UNIVERSITY'' status by the MHRD, Government of India with the recommendations of the UGC under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 because of its world-class education, state-of-the-art infrastructure and premium facilities. Due to prestigious recognition , the university transcended to become Vinayaka Mission Research Foundation as the 48th University of India.
