JEE MAINS and ADVANCED, both are important for a good career in engineering. If you want to get in any NIT, then you should give your Mains exam with sincerity and if your target is IIT, then you will have to give both the exams with utmost dedication as it is very difficult to clear them without sincerity.

Many private colleges also admission on the basis of the rank in Mains.
