Hello,

JEE main marks are those which you have obtained for all the correct answers you have given in the exam after subtracting the negative marks.Now percentile is the percentage of candidates who have scored equal or below that percentile in the exam.The highest and lowest marks obtained will be converted into percentile.Percentile determines the rank of a candidate and merit list is prepared by using the percentile.If more than one candidate scores equal marks then tie breaker rule is used to award the percentile.
