Candidate applying must have successfully completed a Master of Science in Zoology with minimum of 55% aggregate score. Other than the mentioned criterion candidate can also apply if he/she has scored 55% aggregate score in an exam that is considered equivalent. Aside from the M.Sc. score some of the colleges conduct their entrance examination and a personal interview.

Each college has a different criterion for admission in the M.Phil. Zoology course. Few of the colleges conduct their own entrance examination.
