Hello Aspirant,

See it depends upon your target, like whether you need to go for NITs/IIITs or you have to just qualify for JEE-Advance so that you can get into IITs using your JEE-Advance score. Generally it is dream of every aspirant to score good marks in the examinations so that the best option he/she can get. So now it is very difficult to predict the admission chances on the basis of marks because now the percentile system has been adopted to remove the partiality because of multiple shifts, so according to the last year's data if you are scoring 100 marks in JEE-Main out of 300 then your percentile might be somewhere around 92-95 and on such percentile with General category you can easily qualify for JEE-Advance but yes if you are seeking admission through JEE-Main score to NITs/IIIT or any other good institute then this percentile is quite low at least for general category. For such institutions you should have your JEE-Main percentile around 98+ and for top branches like CSE/IT it should be 99.5+.

Note that all above data and assumptions are as per the previous year's data and it is subject to change depending upon current factors like number of students appearing, difficulty level of paper and so on.
