Bal Gangadhar Tilak, born on July 23, 1856, in Maharashtra, was one of India’s greatest freedom fighters. He strongly believed in Swaraj —complete self-rule—and famously said, "Swaraj is my birthright and I shall have it."
Tilak worked to bring people together through culture, education, and public movements. He started festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and Shivaji Jayanti to unite people and spread awareness.
As a journalist, he used his writings to awaken national pride. Though he went to jail many times, he never gave up. Tilak passed away in 1920, but his legacy still inspires us today.
