He was born on 7 August 1779  in Quedlinburg , Prussia(Presently Germany and little part of France).
He was the chairperson of Berlin University.
He is known for his magnificent contribution in the field of geography,  especially human geography.
He was also awarded with Patron's Gold Medal to recognize him.
