Hii muskan, yes in the first year of B.Tech Biotechnology subjects such as physics, maths, chemistry are compulsary. Other than this you will have to study basics of various types of engineering such as mechanical,electrical and also fundamentals of programming. The first year syllabus hardly involves subjects related to biotechnology.

From second year onwards you will get to study subjects and topics related to biotechnology such as Microbiology, Genetics and molecular biology, Bioinformatics etc. Wether Physics or Maths are related to Biotechnology or not it is compulsary for all engineering students to study these subjects in their first year. In the entrance exam of B.Tech Biotechnology, the test includes the question from Mathematics, Physics, Biology. So you have to well aware of it and you also study physics and maths in Bachelor degree.
