We know that 1*2=2 then 2*3 = 6, 3*4 = 12,

4*5 = 20  . This shows that the next number will be the product of 5*6 = 30 .

In this series 2,6,12,20....,the pattern followed is of addition. Here every number is added with the multiples of '2'. Please look below to understand the pattern.

2 = 2

6 = 2+4+0 (previous no. + 4)

12 = 6+4+2 (previous no. + 4 + 2)

20 = 12+4+4

30 = 20+4+6

42 = 30+4+8

So, the series goes as 2,6,12,20,30,42
